Chancey Miller is the quintessential example of what a fighting spirit truly is! On February 10, 2011, Chancey was in a single-vehicle rollover near Stillwater, OK; suffering a C3-C4 injury. Originally, her family was told that she would be completely paralyzed and would never get off the ventilator. However, after an 18-day stay in the Trauma ICU at the OKC OU Medical Center, she was taken off the ventilator and transported to Craig Hospital in Englewood, CO where she endured therapy and rehabilitation. Chancey’s mother has been touched by the caring people who have rallied in prayer; supporting them in their time of need. And Chancey felt the need to pray for those in the hospital with her. That is why Western Wishes feels Chancey is so deserving. She inspires and instills hope in people who surround her.
She was highlighted during the Timed Event Championships at the Lazy E Arena in Guthrie, OK March 2-4. There were many contestants that took the time to stop by and speak with she and her family; as well as American CCM singer Susie McEntire.
Chancey continues to move ahead. During the 2011 Thanksgiving holidays, she was back on a horse with the help of her Dad and Stepmom! She said that she felt alive again. The Chisholm Trail Ram Rodeo Prairie Circuit Finals Committee raised funds, which were presented to her by World All-Around Champion Travor Brazile, for a special saddle. This saddle is being built by Randy Bird, who is himself a paraplegic. Chancey’s story is one that has many more chapters of determination, teamwork and ambassadorship ahead; and most certainly comes full circle. Chancey Miller, we salute you!
