Zach Harrell Is A Warrior
Zach was just 19 when he pulled over on an icy Utah Freeway in January of 2011. He had stopped to help a young mother that had slid off the road. Zach could see she had 2 children in the car, one of which was a 3 week old baby. As Zach tried to help and calm this young mother down he was hit by a car and thrown off a 27 foot overpass. He sustained injuries that most people don’t live through; skull fractures, cheek bone fractures, a fractured femur, too numerous to list.
Zach pulled through. He is back to competing in rodeo. But what makes Zach a true Western Wishes Warrior, is that he later took a very young boy under his wing that lives in his local Western Wishes in Utah who was also suffering; experiencing the pain of surgery and hardships associated with a horrific car accident. Zach continues to this day to be a mentor to this little boy.
Western Wishes arranged to have Zach’s hero, Stran Smith, call him in the hospital and from that moment Zach vowed to get back in the saddle and inspire others. Zach’s wish was to attend a Stran Smith calf roping school. Zach was also an honored guest at the 2012 Chris Cox Ranch Program. Zach’s incredible story of bravery and selflessness will continue to inspire many. Zach’s greatest wish is to always help someone in need.
Indeed, Zach has proven what his true heart’s wish is. He was helping someone in need when his life was forever changed. Then, helped another little soul that was also in need. Western Wishes salutes a true Warrior!
